Dear Cathy,
Thanks for bringing gut wrenching laughter
to us. More important thank you for sharing
the love in a Mother Daughter relationship
that the majority of folks don't get to experience.
I am one of the fortunate ones who can relate
as my Mom and I were close and experienced
together physical and medical challenges.
All the way through your book I burst out
laughing. I especially enjoyed your description
of the end (pun intended) results of your
Mom's advice to the lady in pain in the "pooping
room." Other chapters where I especially
lost it laughing were: 13, 23, 26 and the
Epilogue. I identified all the way through
with your frustration with the medical world
empathizing with the garbage you endured
as told in Chapters 12, 19 and 22. There
are many heartwarming moments also, especially
your chapter on "WOW" and your
references to you grandmother's encouragement
in your life.
You are a talented writer. I have not enjoyed
an author who writes with humor this much
since I read Gerald Durrell's books (ie.
"My Family and Other Animals).
Your musical, "Staying Well" is
great too. Having read your book, I now know
where you got the material for your songs.
People will really relate to this while laughing
hysterically.
The dentist office just called. I have to
be there in a few minutes-emergency-I related
to all your dentist stories! One question:
Where can I get a dammit doll?
Thanks, Cathy, for brightening up our world.
Love,
