
Sherrie’s preferred styles are rock, blues
and funk. Her influences range from the avant-garde,
to jazz classics like Lee Morgan, Tal Farlow,
blues great Buddy Guy, the eclectic Ralph
Towner and Mike Stern, and funk meisters
Tower of Power. She’s a big fan of classic
60’s rock greats like, Jimi Hendrix, Iron
Butterfly, and Janis Joplin; and current
'symphonic metal' groups like Queensryche
and Dream Theatre.
She has a Bachelor's in guitar performance,
and has attended the University of Auckland (New Zealand) where she majored in composition,
the University of Miami, Florida International University and Knox Theological Seminary. Her first guitar professor at University of Miami was camp director Dr. Rene Gonzalez. As freshman at University of Miami, she
received special permission to enroll in
a master's level course in Baroque music,
under Dr. Robert Parker.
Sherrie also taught in the public school
system under award-winning regional music
director Terry Gladfelter.
She has experience in studio work, having
recorded under platinum-album drummer Jerry Marrotta as producer, former Atlantic records producer Richard Serotta, latin music producer Victor Di Persia and others. The bands she has played in have
received airplay in the U.S, and Spain. In
1996, her band Scarlet Letter was nominated “Best New National Band” for the L.A. Music Awards. The band performed
on the cable award show, which was filmed
live at the legendary Roxy rock club on the
Sunset Strip in L.A. Other bands she’s played
with include Aries, Touch, u.b.u., Heartline, and Above and Beyond. She also played with the R&B group Hush, Brother,Hush, which feautured Delmar Brown on keyboards, formerly with Sting.
Sherrie currently is playing with Victoria Cartwright, formerly the guitarist for the popular all-female
metal band “Lipstick”.
